今回は、8月の誕生花「ヒマワリ(向日葵)」をご紹介します！

ヒマワリは、北アメリカ原産の一年草で、すくっと立ちあがった茎から太陽のような大輪の花をつけます。草丈の高いものばかりをイメージしがちですが、品種改良によって草丈10センチほどのプランター向きのものや八重咲き品種などもあり、バラエティに富んでいます。
■　長持ちさせるためのポイント
・ヒマワリは太陽が大好きな花です。日当たりと風通しの良い場所に植えましょう。風通しが悪いと、病害虫の害にあいやすくなります。
・ヒマワリの水やりは、表面の土が乾いたらたっぷりと水を与えます。いつもじめじめしているのは嫌いなので、水のやりすぎには注意しましょう。
