10月の誕生花：キンモクセイ(金木犀)/ Birth flower in October: Osmanthus aurantiacus (Makino) Nakai!

今回は、9月の誕生花「キンモクセイ(金木犀)」をご紹介します！
■　花言葉：「謙虚」「気高い人」
■　モクセイ科・モクセイ属
■　原産地：中国南部
キンモクセイの木の樹皮はサイの皮膚と似ていると言われていることと、たくさんの花が集まり黄金色に見えることから由来してつけられたと言われています。
中国では「丹桂」と呼ばれ、「桂花」と呼ばれることも多く、緑茶にキンモクセイを混ぜて香りづけした「桂花茶」というものがあります。
■　楽しむポイント
・キンモクセイは花をたくさんつけるので、お風呂に浮かべてみると、甘く優しい香りがストレス解消や疲労回復の効果と共に身体を癒してくれます。
・キンモクセイの香水は簡単に作ることができます。
花びらをガラス瓶に半分ほど入れ、薬局などで売っている無水エタノールを満タンにつめて、光を通さないように覆い2ヶ月ほど待つと、香水のできあがりです。
どちらも香りが強い、5部咲き〜8部咲きの花を選んであげると良いですよ。

The name “kumquats” is said to have originated from the fact that the bark of the kumquats tree is said to resemble the skin of a rhinoceros and that many flowers gather together to form a golden color.
In China, it is called “danggui” and often called “cinnamon”. There is a tea called “cinnamon tea” made by mixing green tea with kumquats to add fragrance.

The sweet and gentle fragrance of kumquats can help relieve stress and fatigue as well as heal the body.
It is easy to make kumquats perfume.
Put half of the flower petals in a glass bottle, fill it with anhydrous ethanol from a pharmacy, cover it to keep out the light, wait for about two months, and your perfume is ready.
It is best to choose flowers with five to eight parts bloom, which have a strong fragrance.
